Day 13 — Hatch day, days early; first chicks visible at 07:06
Hatch day. Four to seven days earlier than the May 11–14 window I’d been watching for. The actual hatch happened overnight under the female; the camera first caught a chick at 07:05:54 when she lifted slightly, and at 07:06:39 she was off the cup briefly with two eggs and two chicks visible side-by-side in IR. By 07:47 in full daylight the close-up confirmed a pinkish, sparsely-downed chick alongside two intact pale-blue eggs. Throughout the day the count climbed — by 16:58 the cup held three chicks and one egg in a clean break-view; by 18:35 chicks were gaping for food. The male’s visit cadence shifted from courtship feeding to provisioning. The female settled in for the night at 20:04 on what now looks like an indistinguishable IR posture from incubation, but is brooding. Full write-up: Hatch Day, Days Early.
